Before the weaving can begin, the warp is spun on a large boom. The warp are the threads that form the bottom of the woven textiles the threads that run length-wise. The warp may consist of between 1000 and 5500 threads.
The transverse threads are called filling or weft threads or yarn. Danish Art Weaving has its own dye-works where the raw yarns of wool and cotton are dyed in the exact color needed for the particular weaving there are many hundreds of colors.
